can someone explain to me what a paid subnscriber is intitled to? I loove this site, i'm always shopping here (ie buy lots of kits here) and use the freebies, but don't know what a paid subscription is(and until now didn't know what stealing bandwidth was)
thanks

Barb

I'm sorry that people have been hot linking and strealing bandwidth. If anyone I know expressed an interest in anything from here or any other site I give them the addy and they can work out for themselves how to join, download, post or whatever.
I must say something about the membership, someone did mention that it is only $15.00, I know that not much but it is not possible for eveyone to sign up. I know that in my case DH and I are self funded retirees, we don't get any pension from the goverment and have to live only on our own funds, we also don't have a credit card, if we need something we pay cash, when you take the exchange rate into it the cost would be about $20.00. So as much as I would love to be a member it just not going to happen.
So I'm just happy that sometimes there are freebies put on the site for people without membership and I can download them.

It is sad to see this happening - it seems to be everywhere now. Not only are people sharing free kits / links - there are groups sharing PAID kits as well. So sad to see this happening in our community

It is sad, but it's just a fact of life with the internet. It happens, and the best thing you can do is do whatever you can to protect yourself and your business if there is anything that can be done, it should be. And I'm sure that's what amy is looking into right now.

what is happening is this... in the paid subscriber's area the downloads are actual link... .people have been caught LINKING and posting the actual links as well as preview images of the kit - from the server itself; sharing possibly kits that were meant for SUBCRIBER'S ONLY; and bypassing the proper avenues and as Kim said stealing bandwidth etc. As mentioned this was not directed at all towards "regular" users of the site but as Ashley noted - I pay the bill for ANY extra bandwidth therefore need to halt the abuse of it proceed with a solution

Yes I think the average surfer doesn't realize that just because it's "free" for them to download doesn't mean that it is free for everyone. SOMEBODY has to pay for the download. One little download isn't such a big deal, but then when you start thinking about a site the size of sbb, with hundreds and more of downloads, paying members and freebies included, it's a lot of bandwidth and it's got to come from somewhere. Amy has been very generous with this for a long time, but people don't realize, because it never hits them in the pocketbook! But unfortunately, when a few people think they can break the rules, it ruins it for everybody else who comes and participates in the forums and posts in the galleries and all of that. It is unfortunate that some of the early posters didn't understand what was being discussed and got their feelings hurt. That's a perfect example of the average surfer not understanding how this all works. But please if you don't understand, post and ask questions, rather than getting hot under the collar. Amy is not a monster...well, most days!

Yes I think that it is closed, temporarily, while Amy figures things out. Be patient! :-)
