Red face suggestion for chats/crops

I'm not sure what, if anything, can be done about this. When chats get crowded, it is soooo hard and frustrating to try to keep up. It's easy to get lost in the shuffle as people's comments just fly across the screen, especially newer people who don't know a lot of other people. I often see questions asked that don't get answered because they get buried right away with all the other comments and "chatter" that's going on. Sometimes people have to repeat the question over and over in order to get an answer. (I'd answer them, but often I don't know the answer either.)

I'm hoping maybe some other people have some suggestions. One thing I thought of was to put all the instructions and freebie links in one link, so you just have to click one thing to get to a page with the instructions (including time limits, if any, and where to post) and any freebies that are being given out. Does that make sense? Last night, for example, there were I think 5 freebie links, and they kept scrolling past before I could click on all of them. Copying and pasting didn't work for me. I finally managed to grab them all, but I was getting sooooo frustrated! Then, the crop instructions also kept scrolling by before I could focus on them and read them all the way through. If there were just one link that would take me to all the info in one place, it would have been so much easier. I finally gave up on the chat because I couldn't keep up.

Oh, and I've tried turning off the scrolling. It never works for me. The screen just keeps scrolling away. And sometimes it's hard to go back in the history and find what you missed.

Does anybody else have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Megan

thanks for the honesty megan! As a dtm, when i attend crops i try to watch for issues like you mention and have often started a private msg w/the person to give them some 1 on 1 time. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt'. I'll for sure point the rest of the team to your msg and we'll discuss how to address this and get back to you!

Thanks for the feedback, it is what keeps things getting better and better around here

In popular crops it is hard to keep up sometimes. I know that as DTM, we all try to jump in as Wendy mentioned and PM newbies to help them along, so there are getting help they need, and it doesn't add more to the regular chat.

Maybe as the team sees this, we can brainstorm some further ideas,

Most of the time the chats seem to work well. But last night the connection speeds were very slow. Probably due to the site changes and all of us checking them out. last night I found unusually difficult.

today this site still seems to be slower than normal. but is better than last night.

i would like to suggest that all scrap/chats be on the calendar. Last night I entered the chatroom early for one chat and found that there was another one going on that wasn't on the calendar a 9PM eastern time one. I would have logged in earlier if it had been on the calendar.

I also found it confusing that there were scraps all day for the back to school event, but nothing was listed for those days on the calendar.

I think the updating of the calendar has room for improvement, but I love the site.

more excellent points! And actually the calendar is CURRENTLY being updated, so look for that very very soon!

Our goal is for the crops and challenges to be very easy to find and participate

one other thing to keep in mind is that we are at the mercy of hte software in use.... we can submit a suggestion to the software developers of that chat that the scroll doesn't work for instance.

the site speed should be resolved after this week.... we are still doing maintenance on the second server... while the store is actually "up" the designers and team are having to use this server to upload their "goods"

Megan- these are some awesome suggestions! I really like the one link idea!!!!!! This way any rules, FAQ, sketch link, etc. etc. could all be all one page! I will definitely be using that idea! TFS!

Brilliant

Exclamation

You can also check the Quick Guide to Crop's FAQ sheet found here: http://scrapbook-bytes.com/cgi-scrip...icle_266.shtml

It lists ALL REGULAR crops Monday to Sunday with times etc and direct links to information about the crop where it has been provided by the host.
