Here's Mine

I've always been a Stephen King fan, since the 70s in fact. But I can't believe it took me SO long to start the Gunslinger series! I started reading them two years ago after a friend told me about another King book, Everything's Eventual, which is a compilation of short stories. In that book, there was a short story about Roland of Gilead and instantly fell in love with the lyrical sound of the characters' various accents and history. As I began reading the Dark Tower series, I learned that many of King's books are related either quite obviously or somehow faintly to the Dark Tower and the characters within. WOW! If you've read these books, then you know what I mean. If you haven't (and you're a King fan) you gotta give it a go. I'm so bummed now that the series has ended but I still reread all the books (I'm on my third go around and I'm still loving it!)

Okay, never tried this challenge before. This is my current book. You may think my reading material is a bit strange but I love Beverly Lewis. She writes stories about the Amish that are centered in Lancaster, PA. I love how she develops all the characters and families. I read one of her books and become totally lost in the world she has created. I also love Mary Higgins Clark and probably have every book she has ever written.

My all-time favorite - Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta novels - read every one of them!

For today's avatar--If you like a hard-boiled story, Mosley is your man. Like Chandler, Mosley writes about L.A. but uses a different time and colour. This is black L.A. in the 1950s. Mosley has a series starring Easy Rawlins and I have liked what I have read so far. Fearless Jones is not part of the Rawlins series. It is narrated by a bookseller named Paris Minton and a WW II veteran named, yes, Fearless Jones. An improbable plot to say the least but I read the whole thing in one sitting. I am a sucker for the "ordinary man caught up in extraordinary circumstances" theme.
