This looks like such a fun project. I am so going to have to go out and buy me some blocks and try it. I will have to stop by and see if Michael's has any blocks to get...oh, I can't wait.

This is a fabulous crafty idea. I love the idea of doing them for baby gifts too. I will have to look for blocks I like the idea of cutting my own wood.

I went to two craft stores and neither place knew what a brayer was!!! Can you believe that? Oh well I improvised and got something that will work. Waiting for my blocks. Scared and Excited.

What a cute project Amy! I'm going to head to Hobby Lobby tomorrow to see if I can find a bag of the blocks to start with (I've heard they sell them 6 for $2.99). If not I'm going to order from the place you posted above, their prices look very reasonable!

I want to do a Christmas themed set for myself first to try it out. Then I'm thinking of making a set for my SIL/BIL's family for Christmas using our last name (Taylor) and then putting each member of their family on one of the blocks. They recently moved into a new home & I think these would look fabulous sitting on their mantle! If they turn out like I hope they do, I may end up making them for other family members too!

I finished my blocks on Saturday! I ran into a couple of minor problems... the blocks were not completely square (3.25 inches by 3.375 inches - go figure), so I had to reprint the 6 layouts after I already printed them out once. whoops. It was very interesting working with modge podge. I didn't have a brayer so a couple of the sides bubbled up and I also touched the blocks before they were completely dry, so I left a couple of smudges. Also, I noticed that the "Y" looks bigger in proportion to the other two letters. But all in all, I think the blocks turned out pretty good.

I'm thinking about ordering the 50 blocks from that website that you mentioned, Amy, and make some Christmas gifts.
