How do you organize Brushes

Hi Everyone: Just wondering if anyone has an awesome way of organizing all your downloaded brushes. My list is huge and continues to grow!! Yikes!! I have started a new folder for each category eg. Flowers, Shells, Swirls etc. under the "Brush" folder and then placed the brush sets within each folder. I am thinking I should combine each set within one folder so I don't have to go through several sets to find the brush I need. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I'm literally drowning in my BRUSHES.

Oh, by the way, should my brush folder containing the ones I downloaded be kept separate from the Adobe folder brushes?

Sincerely
Susan

I try to keep mine organized. Try key word, LOL. I have folders for each website that I download from, then within those folders subcategories like you said flowers, grunge, etc. I like to keep the different creators separated b/c it makes it easier to figure out who the brushes are by when it is time to credit. I have been wondering if there is a way to preview a brush without loading? I have so many that finding the right one is hard! I collect a lot of grunge to make things look old and most of the time I load several to find the right one. Any suggestions anyone? -Ali

I use the preset manager to preview without necessarily loading. You add your brushes inside the preset manager, but then can see them and delete from there. When you hit OK, it only loads the ones you kept. (And it doesn't DELETE delete them, just removes them from the preset manager.) I may download a set of 100 brushes and only find a few I want to really use. I go into the brushes Preset manager, load them all, delete back out the ones I don't plan on using and then save this customized "set" with a name that makes sense to me. When one of the brushes came from somewhere else, I also rename it in the preset manager to include where it came from (ie: a brush previously called "Sampled tip 23" would be "grungy - nocturna"). It is easier to do this method as soon as you download a brush(s) so where it came from and how you want to organize it is fresh. When you have thousands of brushes built up, it would be too daunting to start organizing them now!
Hope this helps!
