New Term: Channel Chop

I heard this term -- Channel Chop -- on Tech TV today in association with PhotoShop. Upon doing a Google search I see there is a book on the subject, but I still don't understand what it means. Can someone explain this process to me -- in terms of what you might use it for (photo repair, designing elements or LOs, etc). They said it was a "very Techie process" -- does this mean it is a complicated one?

Thanks in advance for any information regarding this process.

Not sure. But, my mom tapes this show called "Call for help" on Tech TV (OH! I wish I had tech tV) and I am thinking that this was probably the show b/c she tells about stuff she saw them do in photoshop. I refer to their website sometimes, maybe they have an article about it. Hope this helps! -Ali

Photoshop Channel Chops is a book, by David Biedny focusing on extremely advanced channel and mask manipulations in Photoshop. Chops is his slang for CHannel OPerations. It's not new, I've had my copy for at least 5 years. Because of it's age though, it is when the latest version was 4.0 and was written for the Mac, although you can easily follow it for the PC. I would check B&N or maybe Amazon if interested.

sheesh, I'm sorry, I just re-read your post and see you already know it is a book! Sorry! CHOPS just refers to any manipulation of channels and masks. Can be a simple or complex as you like. It's not any one particular action.
