PSCS3 Question

Hi All!

I have downloaded the trial of CS3 and only have 12 days to go on it and haven't mastered anything except a simple extraction. That was from a podcast tutorial and I didn't do the history brush right because the podcast wasn't on CS3 but an earlier version.

My question is, does anyone know of any books on CS3 that is geared towards scrapbooking with CS3?

I know CS3 is kinda an overkill for digital scrapping and is very expensive but my hubby has the whole CS3 Suite so I can use his CS3. Just downloaded the trial when he wasn't home so I could try it

Anyone have any suggestions? Heck, I can't even do the layers right!

Thanks
Lynn

There are lots of them on this site actually... and for whatever you need to do, just use a google search. For example:
the main things to get a handle are on usings Layers and Layer Masks
How to do things like Place other photos into layers
Filters

Other than that.. there really isn't anything scrapbook specific to deal with... Good LUck!

Hi there and welcome to the obsession aka digital scrapbooking!

Many of us use PSCS3 - and it is not really overkill to use it... just a lot more powerful the Photoshop tutorials in the tutorial section really are a huge help! There is even one for completing your first layout in PSCS2 HERE

And don't forget to use the forums to the full potential! We all love to help out!

I am soooooo frustrated with this! I tried the tutorial for making a page and the tutorial is really good, explains everything step by step, but either I am dumb or something is wrong with my program! Every time I open a paper, picture, etc. it places itself on the transparent background and I can't move it! If I try to bring something else in, say an element or another photo, whatever I try to bring in just replaces what is already there! I've tried tutorials on using the history brush - doesn't work! I am not sure that everything works in this trial and I certainly don't want it if it doesn't work right! A while back I had asked someone if I could use ACDSee with PSCS3 and drag and drip my elements. They said they did it all the time. Tried it - one element replaces the other! If I copy and paste from ACDSee - same thing, one element replaces the other! This has me so frustrated I'll probably go back to using my Digital Image Pro and forget PS for good

Thanks guys for trying to help this dumb digiscrapper!

Lynn

Hi Lynn
My guess is that the following is happening..
When you open something - the window you are opening is filling the workspace and so when you open something else it is hidden behind
Create a blank document
Drag in or open anything.
Your screen probably looks like this

In the top right hand corner click on the restore down icon in the second row

Now your screen should like this and you can see both canvases in the Workspace - you may need to drag one over a bit to reveal the one underneath which you can do by clicking and dragging the blue image title bar

HTH - if not let me know

Some sites I've found useful but which are not specifically geared toward scrapbooking are
www.totaltraining.com , www.lynda.com , and www.creativecow.com
Some of these have free tutorials and podcasts, some are a paid monthly or yearly subscription, and some have DVD's. The nice thing is that if you have the whole CS3 suite, you can learn any other Adobe programs you are interested in from those sites too. I have found them all useful for different things at different times.
