Help-using PS & Picture it at once ...

Hi,

I'm using MS Picture IT and I wanted to do a drop shadow, bevel, glow effect in the title of my layout but MS Picture doesn't have this. I do have Photoshop but have very limited knowlege in how to use this program. My question is this, I have done my entire layout in pciture it and i did the title portion in Photoshop now i just want to transfer the title to the layout in picture it and every time i do that it brings the white background with the title, how do i get around this? Does anyone know how to solve this problem? I hope i'm making sense here.

Thank you!

Well it sounds like you are creating the title on a white background instead of transparent or you are not saving it as a .png file to retain that transparent background. To get rid of the white...since its already there, in Picture It use your trim by color tool and get the white out that way.

Hi Amanda,

How do I get a transparent background in Photoshop before I start to make the title? All I have is a white background. I have saved the title as a .png file but it does not give me a transparent background when I go over to MS Picture It nor in PS. I'm so confused.

Also, I'm not quite sure what you mean by use your trim by color tool to get the white out. Do you mean, cut out all the white along the edges b/c i could do that but it is so time consuming and i really just wanted a short cut to doing this. Im assuming there is some compatability between the two programs but maybe i'm wrong.

Thank you

In photoshop when you click on File>New it gives the option of white, background color or transparent.

I use mostly Illustrator and I'm not familliar with Picture It at all. So disclaimer- I am not a photoshop guru- just trying to help

Soooo- here are a couple of options that I THINK will work and I'm sure that there are umteen more ways to do it.
1. Select the white bg with the magic wand then Select>Inverse then cut and paste that into a new file (File>New) and select transparent
OR
2. Select the white bg then Select>Inverse then save as .png

HTH
And anyone else feel free to correct this or help

You can also remove the white background in Picture It by creating a cutout. Use the eyedropper and select the white area. Then choose "select opposite area".
