problem in photoshop

hi
Okay so I'm trying to simply fill in my selection in Photoshop Elements using the paint bucket (or even the paintbrush) but it won't work!! Every time I make a color selection, it doesn't show the color I chose, only this tan color. I know I'm in the right layer, and I just don't know why it won't work
I am making web page.some images copied from web site design company and changing it.
Does anyone know what's causing this problem, and how to fix it???

Try inverting the selection and see if that works. Also, check and make sure the opacity isn't turned down.

That seems odd. The only time I have that issue is if I'm try to paint or pour color onto an adjustment layer. Could that be it?

Do you have permisson to modify their page design? You might want to be sure you get an email saying it is ok to take and modify their design...

If you do have permission, then you'll need to provide some more info.. is this document a JPG or PNG? Are you on the locked background layer of on an unlocked layer. Is there a mask involved that perhaps you are on?

Do you have any layer masks? Or, what Image Mode are you in? If it's not RGB, that could cause problems (go to Image on the menu bar & choose Mode to see what mode it is).
