Stretching letters

I have just started using photoshop a few days ago, I mostly use paint shop pro 7, but wanted to learn this program. Anyway, I want to know how to stretch letters without getting a jagged edge. I have seen it done on other LO's, but I must be doing something wrong. My letters look "pixely" after I stretch them. Any suggestions? This LO is a good example of what I am trying to do, http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/galle...cat=999&page=1

but I don't think the pic that you referenced has a 'stretched' letter, but I may be wrong.

The 'O' looks like an enlarged circle put into the space where the actual font 'O' would be.

Please correct me if I am wrong. I have not had any problems with my letters looking grainy or anything when I have stretched them, but of course I did not make them 3/4 of the LO either...lol.

I use PS all the time, but don't think I make any of my font letters unusually huge...at least not YET. If I come across that delimia, I will let you know.

Sorry I couldn't help more.

Just make sure that "anti-alias" is checked! That should fix it!

Hi...

I went and looked at the link, and what I would do is do the letters seperately.

So I would type the J in one layer
The O in another layer
and the y in another layer

I would change the size of the point to be what ever size u want, pending on how big u want the font.

then if u wanted to make the O bigger in size to fit the photo I would make it a bigger size or stretch it to size..

Then I would link all the layers together and then align the layers..hope that helps, if u haven't already figured it out.

I don't think those letters are "stretched" at all, I think she increased the point size.

If you type something in at, say, 9 points, and then stretch the text box up to like 8 inches, it will be pixelated. But, if you just change the font size (highlight all of the text you want bigger/smaller, then change the size either in the top bar next to the name of the font, or in the "Character" palette) to, say, 250 pts, it should look fine.
