Anyone Using PS with Vista?

I remember when Vista first came out a lot of people in the forum were having problems. Is this still the case?

Thank you

I have been steering clear of Vista and will continue to do so unless there is a reason to go there. Vista is basically just XP with some eye candy - I actually removed it from a laptop that I recently purchased and re-formated with XP Pro.

However, it is much more stable so long as you don't have other "exotic" programs conflicting with it.

Been using CS 3 with Vista on Gateways for several months with absolutely no problems with the CS 3 program.

Regarding Vista though, we have it on 2 "new" machines - a laptop and a desktop. The laptop works great. The desktop is having sleep problems. Some times when you sleep it, it comes back on it's own, other times it won't wake up, other times the montior won't wake up but the hard drive does on and on....it's been a royal PAIN. Some type of power management problem that no one apparently can fix. Would like to toss the thing in the river. (although the 24 inch montior is to die for!) We had to buy a new desktop because our hard drive died, otherwise we would not have. But that being said our lap top is fine as it doesn't have the same type of sleep/monitor/power mangement thing like the desktop. With every update, we hope they fix it, but Microsoft hasn't yet. From what one reads it PC World they aren't coming out with a service pack for a while yet....guess they want us all to suffer. Other than the sleep problems, we've not had any issues. We attempted to use that Microsoft Mail or whatever it was called and that was horrible. We gave up after reading everything on the internet about it and making attempts to get it to work and installed Outlook onto it instead.

While our laptop is perfect, my sisters new Dell with VISTA has been big problems. She isn't into photos or scrapbooking, I just mean it has problems. On-site repair was there last week and they are waiting for him to call again. The repair person told her last week that Vista in general has been a big pain. He didn't think the repairs would help her, but to give them a try. Said he fully expected to hear from her again.....which happened of course.....She thinks she just has a lemon.

While our laptop is fine, if one didn't need a new computer, I'd wait awhile also. The start up on them appears to be slower also which I don't care for.

Thanks for the response!

Doris, the problem you're having with your desktop is exactly the problem I had with my office desktop. Tech support replaced the power source(?) it cured it.

I have pse 4.0 and vista, and don't have any problems with running them together. I do not like vista and its inability to run and install programs without asking you about a billion times, but that is my only issue.

Betty E...thanks for the comment. I sent you an email about the power source just to get alittle more info from you. Hope to hear back from you. It would be wonderful if we could get this fixed!!! It's amzaing how when you call tech support it seems like so many of the people act like they've never heard of the problem. I think some of the people don't even own a computer and just read responses off of cards!! Thanks so much.

PSCS2 here and an updated install of Vista (aka my computer didn't come with Vista installed) and I haven't had a single issue. I LOVE Vista and will never go back. And I was very hard to convince, I wanted nothing to do with it. but the ability to view large thumbnails with just a click of the scroll wheel sold me in a heartbeat! Lots of other really great changes too.
