Question Connecting type in PSCS2?

I'm hoping someone has an answer to this as I am really at a loss!

When using a script font to type journaling, I can never get the letters to connect together. There is always a small space in between them, so fonts that look like cursive are "disconnected". If I want them to connect, I literally have to type each letter in their own layer and then move them together manually - what a PAIN! What am I missing here? I'm sure it is something so simple it is staring me in the face, but I just can't figure it out.

Any help would be appreciated it!

Ugh that would be a drag- there are two possibilities - one is that it is actually a feature of the font - many script fonts dont connect well if at all
If thats not the case or even if it is you can do the following to help change that.
Highlight the text and open the text character palette
Find the letter spacing symbol and adjust to minus values for less spaces and + values for larger spacings.
Just remember to chnage it back to normal as your choice remains for teh next time you use text.
Ive attached a screen shot for you

Oh my, ladies! You have been so helpful! I never even thought about the kerning option in the character menu...amazing! I worked like a charm! And while playing with that feature I found a couple more that absolutely did more than I thought they would. Thank you soooo much, you save me bucketfuls of time!
