Making a background for you desktop

Hi,

I'm very new with Photoshop and would like to know if one could create a background (something like a scrapbook page) for you desktop?

My husband want one for his computer at work but I don't have a clue how to do it.

It is pretty easy. Any of your Adobe files that you have created will work.

I normally upload from a memory stick but you can also email an attachment and save to the desktop. Go to the computer's control and click on display. You should then be able to click on a desktop tab which will allow you to chance what is viewed. Look for the browse button and click. Now go find the file you uploaded and click. All that is left to do is hit the apply button.

Hope this helps. Bonnie

great tips Bonnie!
and if you don't know the dimensions of your desktop on a PC
right click on desktop>properties>click on the settings tab and where it says 'screen resolution' will be your desktop dimentions. mine is 1280x800 so all i do is create a new
file in PS with those dimensions and change the image like Bonnie mentioned.

Can you set it to a .psd?!?!? I've always had to export it to jpg or bmp first...

png files also work fine for a desktop wallpaper although I normally use jpg so the file is smaller.

One thing not mentioned that I think is pretty important is.. merge & save as a 72 dpi JPG not 300 dpi like all the scrap supplies are. I left mine 300 dpi last time I used scrap supplies and it really slowed down my computer with that large file on my desktop
