How to make an image clickable?

I am trying to make a header for a website and I am unsure as to how to make the buttons clickable in their .gif format. I am thinking that you probably use ImageReady but, I just don't know where to put the target info. HELP!

You wouldn't do that part in Photoshop or Image Ready. You would use an html editor for making the links. As far as I know Photoshop and Image Ready only build the layout information such as the tables when you slice the image, and all other content is done in a different program.

Once you have your slices created, you should be able to name them and give them target urls in the Slice Window (may have to go to the ImageReady menu under View and check Slices to see it). When you save, use the option that will save html AND images. The images will be saved as slices and the html code will be created that you can copy and paste in your document.

But, why would you want to do image mapping? It has a number of drawbacks. You might want to look into other options.

HTH,
