Help!

Ok, I posted earlier about extracting my boys names from a scan (their own handwriting) and putting it into a lo.

I tried the Magic Wand thing, but when I drag it, it always takes the white background. How can I get it so that it just drags the "ink"?

ALso, how can I make it darker? Or am I going to have to make it darker before I scan it?

Magic wand the ink, ctrl+J to duplicate the inked area. Now it should be on it's own transparent layer for you to select and move. Hopefully this will work for you, as it is a little quick cheat that I use all the time.

It appeared that worked, although I don't see it on my lo.

Guess I'll have to darken it and re-scan the image. Thanks for your help!

Oops, looks like Colleen answered first!

Hi! I didn't see your earlier post so I don't know if you've already tried this, but here goes! Make sure the layer is its own layer, not the Background layer, by double-clicking its name in the layer pallette (it becomes Layer 1). Select the white paper they've signed on with the Magic Wand. You may need to increase the tolerance to select the entire paper. Hit delete, and you should be left with the signature only on a transparent image. You might need to go back and select inside letters, like the inside of "o", "e", etc. Then drag the handwriting to your finished layout. I'm only guessing on this, not quite sure if it would work, but I have to leave to pick up kids from school and don't have time to test it! Good luck!
