Extracting

I have not tried extracting anything yet, but I know there is a tutorial in the tutorial section.

However, my question is, using that tutorial, can I extract a signature? I am making a page for my twins' teachers and I want to put their signatures on each page. I had them write their names on a piece of paper and then I am going to scan them, but I want to know if I can extract those signatures and lace them on the page? Does that make sense?

you can just use the magic wand to select the signature- be sure that contiguous is not selected- as there are probably breaks in the letters.

then just choose the move tool and drag it over to your layout

you could also make a brush with them and "stamp" them onto the layout.

Thanks! Ok, since they are 5, they only print their names, so would I magic wand each letter?

How would I make a brush out of their namews? That is an interesting idea.....

nope- if you leave contiguous unclicked it will select all of the "ink" from the bg paper. set the tolerance pretty high 50+ - to be sure it all gets selected

after you do the above do this:
edit>define brush preset
control D to get rid of marching ants
now to save it:
edit>preset manager (at the bottom of the list)
click on the icon of the brush you just made
click save set
name it
