Dropshadows

Hi everyone!

Okay so I am used to using PSP but have just got Photoshop CS2 and I think I am finding my way around it pretty well so far I am loving all the many features, but my question is can I save my dropshadow settings? atm I seem to be having to go back and type in the settings each time I add a shadow! also is there a shortcut to bring up the dropshadow menu?

Thanks! I have tried having a look around but I can't seem to find anything for my question

I believe you should be able to create a new style while on the drop shadow dialog box and name it. It would be the same thing as saving it as a preset in PSP.
Shortcuts...? just by clicking the little 'f' at the bottom of the layers palette I believe. This is the one thing about CS2 I don't like at all; is the inability to totally customize my workspace with palettes and tools where I want them. I have a serious adversion to drop down menu's and such!

Like Tracy said, creating a layer style will do the trick for you. Be sure to save any styles you create, I can't tell you how many times I forget to save

and if there is a short cut for accessing the layer styles.. I would love that! All I do is double click on the layer. can you tell I love layer styles!

I use PSP also and having what seems like double having to save a style or define a brush tip in PSCS2 does seem odd. I looked for you how to save a preset but I am lost right now also!! I clicked OK , named it but now I have no idea where it saved it to, or how to use it again???
Come on girls we have a ton of PSCS users here, just a slower day I guess! Thanks Dani!!

Hi Vicky- you prob already know this, but you can save your layer style right away after you've double-clicked on the layer you want to add your drop shadow to and have entered the different numbers- then to the right under ok and cancel it says new style (ETA: see my last paragraph here to actually save the style- doing the above is just temporary- thanks Nancy!)

ok- where is this saved to beings it doesn't give you an option of where to save it? (arrrgh LOL) It saves it to the style library that happens to be open at the moment (ETA: see my last paragraph here to actually save the style- doing the above is just temporary- thanks Nancy!)

so if you know what library that you want it to be in, be sure to have that open when you decide to save your newly created style (ETA: see my last paragraph here to actually save the style- doing the above is just temporary- thanks Nancy!)

how do you switch library's?
in the styles pallette, click on the top right arrow and choose from one of those library's/sets at the bottom of the list

ok- how do you put all of your drop shadows in one library of it's own? (i.e. create/save a new library/set)
click on that same top right arrow in the styles palllette- and choose preset manager
then click on the icon of the drop shadow style you just created>save set- and then name the set (library)
(you can then go back to the library that you orig saved it in and delete it from there)

HTH

Hmmmm- maybe I should make a video of this LOL!
