Possible Photoshop Challenge

I have posted previously about the books that are known as the Photoshop Cookbook series by OReilly Go here to read more about it http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/photoblend/ but buy at Amazon for eg where its cheaper http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/059...Fencoding=UTF8

Anyway one of my tasks that I have set myself is to figure out blending modes and how to use them to get an effect I want - rather than just playing. To that end I purchased Photoshop Blending Modes Cookbook for Digital Photographers.
I think the explanationa and tutorials in this book are useful for all levels of PhotoShop users especially for beginners and midlevel experience. So if we have any one interested I thought I would make a weekly challenge here based on the book.

The idea I had is that we would work through one "recipe" a week using our own photos and post both the original photo and the result, with a "how I did it."
There would be no prizes as part of this challenge - Its just simply motivation to learn and share what we learn.
We could wait until June 1st to start to give interested people time to purchase the book ( and by the way I highly recomend the others in the series too for what its worth)

If we get 10 or more Ill set up a special gallery otherwise we can just make it an informal challenge
So if you are interested - add you name to this post

I'll check tomorrow on the cost of the book, but I would be up for a group motivational challenge on blending!

I bought the book a while back and would be interested. I've been on this site for a couple of years but have never done a challenge...so please give good instructions for a newbie who has never done one!
:-)
(by the way, I bought the Photo Effects one also...I can't remember which book, but I was missing some of the photos. Emailed the publisher but never heard back)

This sounds like a lot of fun - I've just ordered the 2-book package from Amazon. Gotta love free shipping. LOL

Doris: I noticed on the O-Reilly site that the PDF showing the Table of Contents for the Blending book gives a URL in the left column where images can be downloaded. You might check in your book for that URL. I did check it and the images are online in a zip file. If it is the other book, on Photo Effects, you might look somewhere in the first couple of pages and see if it gives a download location. (This is called reading the fine print LOL) I've bought a lot of computer books, and there is usually a download location given in the book.

Hope this helps.
