Help - to move elements!

I've put a paper on the layout I'm making now, and found the picture I want to use. Now I want to put an element on my LO. When I drag the element over to the LO, I can put it on there, but I can't get to move it to where I want it. I get a warning that I can't move it because the layer is locked. How do I do this??

I use Photoshop 6.0, and I don't know how to unlock the layer.

on your layers pallet, make your element layer active. up on top of the pallet you should have a check mark in one the the boxes, uncheck it. you should be able to then move the element.

That mark is already unchecked, and the layer is active.

how about attempting to duplicate the layer? Does that let you then move it? Is it doing it with ALL your elements or only a particular one or by a certain designer?

hmmmmmmmm
so the layer does have the little lock icon on it?

if *any* of those boxes next to "lock:" is checked you will not be able to move the layer- not *just* the actual padlock icon

Also, if your "Auto Select Layer" box is checked way up top in the options bar- this sometimes happens- especially if the item you are trying to select is tiny- because it's easy to accidentally select the background- which is locked. Sorry about the runon LOL!

Try this, I'v been dealing with it latly with some downloads and struggled for quite a while. go to the top menu, to image, down to mode, is your element in the RGB color? if not, click on it to change it.If that's the problum you should be able to do whatever with it now.
