How to save a brush as an abr file

I followed Shelleyrae's awesome tutorial to make a brush in PS, and it worked perfectly. It is showing up in my brush palette and everything. My question is how do I save it as an ABR file so that I can use it later after I've dumped all my brushes off the palette or share it with others??? I'm sure it's something simple, just can't seem to figure it out. Thanks!

You'll need to use the preset manager to save it as an .abr

Edit>Preset Manager - it usually defaults to the brushes when you open it, but in case it doesn't, change the dropdown on the top to brushes. Then click on the brush you want to save. If there are several brushes you want all together in one set, you can continue selecting them by using control-click. When they are highlighted, click on "save" over on the right hand side of that window. It will ask for a file name and a location to save.

That's it. Then you can reset your brushes palette to default at any time and still load those brushes later by choosing "load" and browsing to where you saved the .abr file.

I don't like to save them right in the PS folder because the more that are there, the longer it takes for PS to open, so I save them into a folder I made within my main scrapping folder. Some people like to make a brushes folder within the My Documents folder to save them.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Nancy, I can always count on you for great PS advice! And yes Shelleyrae, it was a great tutorial. I can't believe I've been using photoshop for 12+ years now and never knew how (of course they never existed in the beginning). I'm trying my hand at making my first kit and thought I'd include a great hummingbird brush that I made. Thanks again, I'll try it out later tonight!
