My brushes, erasers will not work, yikes !

So weird, the eraser, blur, dodge, paint brush, anything using the paint brush tool does not work! I have checked everything that I can think of. Yes, the correct layer is selected. Yes, the eraser does show up on the history palette. It thinks that it is working, only it is not. I have tested it on several pages with the same results. I am sad because I am worried that I need to uninstall/re-install PS.

Any ideas?

Sallie

Someone was having the same problem last week or the week before. Make sure your brush size isn't too small to actually see that it's working. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the idea. I tried a large brush to see if that was the problem but no success. Thanks for the suggestion though.

you probably already tried rebooting right

I used to have that problem with the crop tool. so frustrating, but a reboot always fixed it

I have that problem with my PS also from time to time. Sometimes it was my fault (i had something selected and didn't realize) but most of the time it was random. It would remedy though if I restarted the program.

Sometimes for me they are set at a low opacity (I think that's the box at the top - between "Mode" and "Flow"). So you can check that out.

I would try another LO and see what happens. Assume you're just not in a mode that is allowing those functions (and that you've got the right size and opacity). Guess you said you were on the right layer, so that can't be it. If you're working on a layer (not the background layer) if you click on the brush and change your mode at the top to clear, will it erase for you doing that? You might want to post your question on the Adobe forum site if you still haven't been able to figure it out. Good luck.
