Question New and poor, lol

Is there any way to use an OOOOOLD version of Adobe Photoshop that came with an old computer I have? I can't afford new software, and its the only Photoshop I have...its 1.0!! On a computer that has Windows 98 on it, lol. I really have wanted to try digital for a long time, but with no money to spend on software, this is the only option I have or wait on digital scrapping, so wanted to know if its at all possible to use this very very old version that was preinstalled on my old computer?

Thanks (hiding in shame),
newbie here,
Diana

I'm not sure what capabilities Photoshop 1.0 has but you could always give it a shot. Try downloading some freebies and see what you can do with them.

you could for a few months anyways go to the different software company websites and try out there software, most offer fully fuctional 30 day trials.

I heard there's a free program out there called GIMP that's similar to Photoshop. You could google it and give it a try.

Photoshop 1.0 probably won't give you much functionality with digital scrapbooking, unfortunately. Layers weren't supported in photoshop until version 4.0 and most brushes you find on the web for decorating are for versions 6.0 and up.

GIMP is a decent program, and has much of the same functionality as the more expensive graphics editors. You can find it here: http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/

Aside from that and using the 30 day free trials found on websites, you can check e-bay or used-software stores. A lot of times you can find at least a decent copy of PSP 7, possibly Photoshop 6 for around 50.00 or so

Hi actually you can even find the new PSPX for $40.00 when there are specials on it. The only thing I wonder about is that if your computer is an older on, I don't know that you will have both the processing speeds or memory ability that you will need for digital scrapbooking. My older computer was only 5-6 yrs old and choked horribly trying to render images (LO's) that were running about 350MB is size.
