I LOVE PHOTOSHOP ALBUM it is the BEST!!! you can bring in ALLLLL file types and create catagories and tags for everything.

You can download a trial copy however it only has JPEG option and after purchase you can import all file types.

It is HIGHLY recommened.

I have about 25,000 items organized in mine and each time i get a new kit, i pull it in and then tag the papers, tags, words, alphabets under each catagory. I even have each designer in their own catagory -- it's so great and simple to use!!!

www.adobe.com and they have a trial there.

Adobe Album doesn't seem to work with my computer for some reason, so I was forced to look for another program. And I found Picasa, a free program from Google, and I think it does a great job, and is easy to use. I couldn't do without it now!
You can find the free download here : www.picasa.com
worth a try! :-)

Red face Picasa help!

does anyone have problems with png files showing up terribly in picassa? some elements with transparent backgrounds take on this dark green background that distorts the picture. other than that I love picasa! but i find myself not using it because i can't see all of my elements clearly!

any help with this problem would be much appreciated!

Same here, though with my Picasa the background of my png-files is dark blue. I don't like that at all, so I went and bought Photoshop album, but haven*t received it yet. This will be my 4th organizing software that I'll try after PS album starteter edition which did not work with png files, PSP album and Picasa. Maybe PS album will be the right one for me.

Kristie,

I have a question that may be dumb, but it has held me back from organizing as I should (and want to!).

I am assuming that everyone does not leave all their elements on their hard drives. If that is true, how do you use PS album to keep track of your elements? Perhaps I am wrong, and you do keep everything on your computer, and just make CDs for back up.

I need a little more info about how to go about and get organized, I guess. I am not really sure where to start with album. I think I could figure it out if I spent some time with it, but the question about where to store things has me stumped. (I think I need to ask for an external hard drive for my birthday!)

Thanks for any help you can offer.

DeLynn

Great book! Loved it. Let me know if the pngs work for you. I bought PS Album because Picasa did not show thumbnails of PS images saved without the backwards compatability option. That option almost doubles file size--all so somebody with PS 5 can open your files. Dumped that option fast! But Picasa would not show new files nor would ImageMatch (an otherwise fantastic program which showed me both PS and PSP files---BONUS). Sad news for me is that PS Album does not display png thumbnails any better than Picasa.

frustration with organizing programs

I downloaded picassa and didn't like it because I couldn't figure out how to tell it to look only under certain folders so it found ALL the pictures on my computer (over 10,000) and I had to try and delete them or something, anyway I lasted about 15 minutes before I said forget it. Someone else suggested (in another thread) another program, which I downloaded to use and after spending all week adding my tags, I realized that it didn't pull up over half of the files I had in my folders (even though they were .png files and it had pulled other .png files). I couldn't find any rhyme or reason for this problem so needless to say I was pretty frustrated Friday night. So I am just going back to using my computer's browser with thumbnails in my organized file system to find what I want.
