Tutorial for lace, bows, ribbons

Hope this is the right forum for this. Anyway, I downloaded a kit from this site that had some lace elements in it and I really like the way the LO I did came out. Also, I have been searching for some good tutorial to do bows and ribbons, but have not been able to come up with anything GOOD.

Does anyone know of a website for tutorials for lace, ribbons or bows?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Well....

Pretty much all the really good ribbon and all the bows and lace are scanned in. There are a few tuts floating arounf out there on how to make grossgrain ribbon pretty well. You can also replicate twill pretty easily also. Tandika's site has some good tutorials on how to make different elements, including twill tape and crochet lace. Tandika's site I will look around and try to find one on the grossgrain ribbon for you.

I just submitted a tut for making grosgrain ribbon in PSE, so it should be up here at SBB soon. So you don't have to wait with baited breath, here's the quick overview.
  1. Open a new file that is 12 inches tall, .5 inches wide and a resolution of 300 dpi.
  2. Set your foreground color to be the basic color of your ribbon and the background color to a slightly darker version of the foreground color. For this example I set the foreground to #F49AC1 and the background to D97BA4.
  3. Select the entire layer (CRTL+A) and fill it with the foreground color.
  4. Switch the foreground and background colors (keyboard shortcut: X).
  5. Create a new layer (keyboard shortcut: CTRL+SHIFT+N)
  6. Open the Brush tool. Select the diameter 19 hard round brush and set the brush opacity to 70%.
  7. Hold down the SHIFT key and drag the brush along both sides of the ribbon.
  8. Add a Simple Inner Bevel to the brushed edges. Adjust the size of the bevel if desired. I used an size 18 pixel bevel in the example.
  9. Make the main part of the ribbon the active layer and select Filter> Sketch> Halftone Pattern from the main tool bar. Set the pattern type to Lines with a size of 3 and a contrast of 20.
  10. Rotate the entire image 90 degrees (Image> Rotate> 90° Right)
  11. Set the foreground color to white.
  12. Open the Gradient tool and select the Soft Stripes gradient from the Special Effects gradient group.
  13. On a new layer, loosely click on the left end and then the right end of the ribbon.
  14. Change the gradient layer’s mode to multiply.
  15. Before taking your new ribbon into a layout make sure to flatten it (Layer> Flatten Image).

Erm... the tut is better with screenshots. LOL And like any tutorial play around with the settings to get results that you really like. You could also use the burn and dodge tools to give the ribbon more random highlights and shadows.

HTH!
