PS Pattern

I've made some of my own paper. I would like to make a pattern out of some of the paper to use as a fill in letters, tags, etc. I use PS7. I don't know how to make and save a pattern. Can someone tell me or point me to a tutorial on that? Thanks so much!! ~Betty Jo~

I only know PSCS, but it might be similar in PS7:
To make a pattern, just select the area you want to turn into a pattern and chose edit -> define pattern. Then you will see the pattern in the pattern set.

Thanks so much Rikki!!!

It works just the same in PS7! How easy that was. Some of these things appear to be so simple--others--not! Is there an easy way to make a seamless background tile in PS? ~Betty Jo~

Edit>Fill>Pattern (found in drop down menu under foreground color) find the pattern you just defined

Whether it's seamless or not depends on what you start with

Also, you might want to try a filter to make a seamless tile.
There is a "simple filter" for this that works quite well on "simple" tiles:

I usually start with a pattern and then make the background page. Using new fill layer with pattern, I can then adjust the size of the pattern- which is a cool feature.
