tubes in PS
To my knowledge, Photoshop does not utilize tubes in its native filter set.
Tubes are small photo images that can be "sprayed" onto an image thru a paint nozzle tool, like little sprays of keys, flowers, pinecones, etc., most often used as decorative borders or background fills. They are single document files that contain usually 3-5, sometimes more, variations on the tube's theme, and spray out randomly when the tool is held down and dragged over the background.
Its a format that is native in other graphics apps, namely Paint Shop Pro.
The only way I know of to use tubes in Photoshop is through the commercial third party add-on Alien Skin Splat!> Surface Stamp. PSP tube files can be downloaded directly into the content file and used from there only.
Once you have the Splat package, you can save a created image as a tube file thrugh Photoshop, as well as open and alter them. I never saw the "save as SPLAT PaintShopPro Picture Tube> *TUB" format option in the SAVE AS...fly out until after I had installed the package, so thats a guess on my part.
There may be free plug-ins out there that enable one to use tubes in Photoshop, but I am not aware of them. If the tube nozzle tool is a plug-in in PSP, you might try copying it into your Photoshop tool set and see what happens.
