Font effect problem ??

I just finished a layout that I have used several font effects on. Bevel & Emboss as well as Inner Glow, in PS7. First I saved a copy with all layers in tact. Then made a duplicate. When I flatten the duplicate copy of the LO all the font effects disappear and I'm left with flat fonts. This has never happened before. What am I doing wrong this time?

I am only seconds away from giving this blasted program away and going back to my trusty PSP7!!! (just kidding!! )

I've noticed that it appears that the effects go away, but they don't.

Try flattening while you are at 100% and you will see that they're still there. Hopefully

Hi Laurie,

Yes, I flattened at 100% and the effects are gone. This didn't happen with my other two LOs! I'm stumped. I also made a copy of the original, flattened and saved as a maximum JPEG and all the font effects are gone.

Just curious, but why do you flatten your images before saving them as jpgs? After I'm finished with a lo and am ready to post, I keep the image as is (with all the layers), then go to "Save For Web" and resize to 600x600 and adjust the quality until its just under 125kb. Then its ready to upload here. Don't know if this will help you, but it might reduce your steps in the process.

HTH!!
Heather

Hi Heather,

Either way with saving a .jpg the layers merge or flatten whether you do it or the program does it which you know of course. I've just been taught to do it first before saving so it just comes naturally for me. I did try it though the way you suggested and when saved and the program merged the file it still lost the effects on the fonts.

I didn't try saving it in a .png format yet though. Can .pngs be posted here, do you know? I suppose the file might be too large that way, but it does keep the layers in tact and perhaps wouldn't change the fonts.

Thanks for your help!!!

Hmmmmm..... I'm sorry, but I'm lost on this one. I could certainly see why this would get on your nerves though. As far as the png file, I've never tried it. I can't imagine it would hurt to try though. Sorry I couldn't be more help here...
