Plug Ins

I downloaded the dreamsuite demo from AutoFX. I downloaded it into my plug ins --filters folder. So far, I have not been able to use it. The program opens up but will not let me open up a picture to apply the filters to. Does anybody else have this? I've been trying everything I know to get this demo to work for me, but it's just not. There are so many great filters I'd love to use, but I'm stuck!! Help!!!! Please
