CD only version of CS?

i just found a website that will sell a full version (upgradeable) of PS CS for $99.99. they say that it's legitimate and comes in a factory sealed cd, but doesn't include technical support. this is a $649 program as most of you well know and i'm thinkin' there must be a downside here? am i right? is technical support really that necessary? i know that it will not include the manual either, however, i saw one that i would rather have at borders for $149 anyway.

Read the fine print on some of these sites. I bet they're either harvesting your personal info, requiring you to buy something else to get the discount, or they're selling a "backup" and you have to promise that you already own it.

Software can be sold as "OEM". This is basically software sold w/o a manual or technical support. This is different than the backup software example given.... so be careful. The cheapest I've seen the OEM is about $199.

your right, that's exactly what it is. i just went back and read it and it's OEM. they are upfront about the fact that there is no manual or tech support and they get there software from previous bundles or buyouts. i think it sounds legit, i want to buy a manual from borders anyway and i'll forgo the tech support for $550 dollars :-). it is $99, but maybe that's cause there comin out with a new version this month, cs 2.0? thanks for your response

Did you purchase this then? If so, did it work for you & will you be able to upgrade it in the future? Might be interested myself if it turned out OK for you.
