How to learn about Photoshop?

I am new to digital scrapbooking (actually I have only done two pages and they weren't all that great). I don't know how to use photoshop very well and I don't have any scrapbooking type pics on my computer right now (which I am trying to remedy). My main problem is I know there is a lot out there that I can do with PS, but I don't know how to do it. Is there a book or something out there that says easy ways to use the program? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated

There are thousands of tutorials out on the Web for Photoshop itself and how to use it for digital scrapbooking. Use Google to search for Photoshop Tutorials or Digital Scrapbooking Tutorials and you'll find them. You could also try Adobe's website..they have lots of tutorials as well.

There is a free on-line mini course through About.com that you receive the lessons in your email to do at your leisure.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info
I don't have the internet at home though, so it makes it kind of tough to do tutorials. I keep trying to convince my DH that we need the internet, but he says that it messes up the computer. Oh well, I just use my work computer or my in-law's computer.

I wrote a Scrapping with Photoshop Intro class/book that you can print out from your internet connection, or save to a disk and print from home, or view at home. PM me, it's about 160 pages

I'm not sure how to PM. Sorry. The book sounds great. That is wonderful that you are willing to help out like that!

I also reccommend the "Classroom in a Book" series by Adobe -- probably about $30 at Barnes & Noble or Borders. I thought I knew my way around PS until I did a few tutorials, and I realized how much I had been missing out on.

Hi, I think she means to send her a private message , just click on her name to go to her profile area. Then click "send private message".

As for learning Photoshop, wow, wish you had access to www.lynda.com where you can get a monthly subscription ($25) to watch the best video tutorials ever! But, she also had them on DVD, too. Also, www.photoshopcafe.com has a lot of free tutorials that teach great stuff in an easy to read and follow method. YOu might go there and print out a few of the tutorials and then follow them at home.

If you want to do something specific, let us know... maybe we can guide you through it. Send me a message anytime, I'll try my best to help.

Learning Photoshop

I can't tell you how many nights I spent hunched over a dog-eared, post-it note covered and highlighted copy of Photoshop For Dummys by Deke McClelland.

Its written in easy to understand language that doesnt assume you're a computer geek, and has plenty of illustrations to follow along.

The best way to learn is just to sit there and perform each task set until you understand it, then mess with all the different variations untill you get the knack for how each tool or blend mode behaves.

You just have to dive in and splash around, thats the only way.
