Lightbulb Favorite PS shortcuts - viewing fonts

Hi all,
I thought I'd post some of my favorite Photoshop shortcuts. I use Photoshop 7 but these still might work in others versions.

My favorite shortcut currently is FONT VIEWING. I like to be able to cycle through the fonts and test out which one works for my page. How do I do it? Here we go....

1. Type your text out and highlight (or select it)
2. Press Control + H (on PC) , you will notice that the "selected" text appears "unselected" , but it is really not.
3. Find the font drop down box, click once on whatever font is in the box to "select" it
4. Using the keyboard arrows, scroll up and down

There you have it... your Text will change with each font automatically and you will get to see all the wonderful possibilities for your layout!!!

Hope you enjoyed that.
I promise to post more shortcuts in the days ahead.

How about you? got a secret shortcut that the SBB world would love to know?
Don't hide it! Post it!!

I just discovered this myself. It's a great help in choosing which font to use

Not sure that this is secret; however, I frequently use many text layers and often prefer them to a text box (mainly because I don't know how to get rid of the darn box if I decide I don't like it so easier to use layers). But I often want to change multiple text layers ie. colour, font, size etcetera. If you group all text layers as a set, and shift before you pick the font or size or whatever, the change will apply to all layers in the set. Only question I have now that I see this tip is whether you can just pick a few layers in the set and have it only apply to those selected layers. I will check this out later tonight and edit this post. As it stands, even if it applies to all it still beats going through every layer and changing it.

for what it's worth, this font viewing feature also works in PSE2. Thanks for the info about Cntrl+H to get rid of the selection view, tho -- that will greatly enhance looking at my text as I scroll through the fonts!

Wow!

Wow, srg! Thanks so much for that tip, I just tried it and I'll be using this one! I've always scrolled though them while they were selected and I could never get the full effect. I just love learning "new" stuff about this program I love so much! Thanks!!

Thumbs up Thanks.... I've been

toggling between word and PSE to test out my fonts - what a pain, I knew there must be another way.
