Multi-line journaling

Since PSE does not have good text editing features, I was wondering what others use to do lots of journaling. I usually add each line of text to its own layer but then if I change my mind on the font, many time the words need to be reallocated across the lines becasue the spacing is different.

Is there a better way?

Thanks,
Barb

I'm not sure about PSE but in PS6, if you click and drag with the text tool, it creates a text box that you can resize to fit your layout and the text remains "wrapped around" regardless of your text box or font size...

Other than that can you type your journalling in a word program and cut and paste?

Just a suggestion

with Transparency?

Is there a way to create the text in a word-processor but with a transparent background?

i'm not sure this answers your question, but I can create my text in word and then copy and paste it onto a photoshop document. It appears on its own transparent layer.

I'm using a Mac, but I don't see why it wouldn't work the same on a PC.

Susan-

I gave that a try last night. I hightlighted the text in Word, did a copy, and then paste into my PSE document. The text from Word did come over in its own layer but had a white background. Do you do anything different?
I wasn't using word art, just regular text.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I know this question was for Susan, but if you don't mind, I can answer....or at least try...LOL.

I also have typed words out in MS Word, copy/pasted right into Photoshop. Now I don't have PSE, so maybe that is a PSE issue. But I have never had a problem with there being a background behind the lettering. It only copies the text...nothing else.

Maybe someone who knows more about PSE can help....I hope!!!!

sounds like a PSE issue.

Have you tried using the magic wand to select your text, (I am presuming your text is all one color) Then do a select inverse and then hit clear?

add on: I just tried this in PS. Does PSE have the rasterize feature? If so, you need to rasterize your type and then use magic wand to select the text.

HTH!

I have no problem copying text from word and pasting it into PSE2 and the text layer stays transparent - maybe its a PSE1 issue or maybe you have a layer turned on that you might need to turn off in order to see the transparency of the text layer??
