modifying elements

Okay I have another question (I use to think I was computer literate )

I am using photoshop elements and I know that it does not have all the features of the full photoshop - so that might be the answer.

When I read tutorials, hints, etc about how to do things in photoshop I have not been able to figure out how to do them in elements - primarily it is things like adjusting the effects. For example I can add a drop shadow, but I cannot figure out how to change the size and distance of the shadow. Any hints?

Thanks again **Lacy

This one of the drawbacks of PSE...it doesn't give you as much control over styles. I believe it does have the dodge and burn...you can use that to add your shadows. Or, one you put a shadow style on there...if you KNOW you are done..but dont' like the shadow itself. Make a another layer, group the two, merge them...then your shadow will just be part of the layer (not a separate style) and you can use your eraser tool to adjust it. HTH!

Well, you can change some of the features of a layer style. In the Layer Palette, double click on the f icon to the right of the layer with a layer style applied to it. PSE will bring up the Style Settings window where you can adjust some of the settings for the layer style. For a basic drop shadow you can change the shadow distance and the lighting angle.

And FYI - Once you have adjusted the drop shadow, you can copy that layer style to another layer. Click Layer -> Layer Style -> Copy Layer Style. Then start editing the layer you want to add the copied drop shadow settings to and click Click Layer -> Layer Style -> Paste Layer Style.

HTH,
Stacy
