Can not save to jpg

Hello

I am fairly new to photoshop elements but have made about 12 scrapbook pages. The first 8 I created then saved a copy as a jpg, but for the last few pages I have not been able to get it to save as a jpg in order to print them on Shutterfly. Anyone know what I am doing wrong? When I do the save as jpg it actually looks like it is saving, reduces the file size, but still is a psd file?

thanks in advance,
Jpmog

You probably have layers setup and therfore need to Merge Layers... JPG's can only have a single layer so if you have more than one... you cannot save to jpg.

Or... when you save, it automatically defaults .psd... did you change the drop down to jpg under filetype? Good Luck..

I've noticed that when I save as jpg in Elements, it creates the jpg file but the document I have open is still a psd file. Check your file folders to see if it's there.

Thanks for the help to both of you. In my file folder it is still in psd format. The file size has drastically been reduced, but still in psd format? I tried to upload to a photo printing site just to see if somehow it was jpg but listed as psd kwim? The site would not recognize as a pic file?!

Thanks again

hmmmmm.....not sure what is going on here. What version of Elements do you have? When you are saving are you clicking on "save as" in the file menu and then when the box comes up, are you making sure you select jpeg in the "format" box? Are you sure that you are saving in the right file so you know where it is?

PSE 4

Hello

I am running PSE 4. Yes I am sure on those things you asked to check. As I said, the first 8 saved just fine ?! I have done NUMEROUS tech searches and have found several other ppl have had this issue, but I have not found the correct way to fix it?

Thanks again

Sounds like you are doing everything perfectly. Sorry I can't help you better. I totally understand your frustration. I've had a few issues with PSE myself and have had a hard time finding answers. I'll keep my eyes open and see if I can find out what to do
