How do I make a custom cut-out

Does anyone know how to make a custom cut-out? I want to use my own shape to make a cut-out of another object.

Any clues on how to do this?

Thanks a million!

Do you already have your shape drawn or do you need to draw it? If its already drawn and on its own layer CTRL-Click on that layer so you get the ants around it...then move the layer where you want the cutout and hit delete.

Thanks Amanda ...it worked but my custom cut-out is 3 parts. How can I select them all at the same time and still get cut-out?

have the layer selected and then click on the Link check box in the layers pallet (between the eye icon and the picture of your layer) next to the layers you want to work on all together.

One more question..sorry. It looks like I have PhotoShop Elements 1 because I dont have the link between the eye icon and the picture of the layer. I only have a paint brush. Is there a way to change that to the link thingy??

Thanks!

Try holding down the shift key while clicking on the different layers. Or....if you don't mind merging the layers you can do that too.
