Question replace layer with photo

I'm hoping that someone can provide me a little assistance. I downloaded a template from Sarah VanDyke's store. I've got it all ready to go except that I don't know how to replace the layers with photos. I opened the photos that I wanted to use, moved it over the layer that I wanted to replace, and then did control+g and alt+g. Nothing happened.

I thak you in advance for any help that you could provide.

Place the photo above the photo template piece in the layers palette. Then in your layers palette, move your cursor on the line between the two layers while holding down the alt-key. It will turn into a little arrow thing. When it does click it. That does the same thing as Cntrl+Alt+G. In the layers palette, you will see the photo layer more to the right a little. Looks like this:

Something else to keep in mind that sometimes throws people - if your photo is physically smaller than the template piece you may not see a change in the canvas and you will probably need to resize the template piece.

she is using the trial version of PSE 6.0 and it seems that it doesn't have masking at all! I found this information though about a way to download a free layer mask tool for pse 6 for anyone else out there that is using 6 too.

thanks for the replies...

I truly appreciate your help. As Sarah mentioned, this feature isn't an option in PSE6. I do thank you for the assistance, however.

I figured it out today! I use PSE5 normally but when Sarah asked about this I downloaded 6 to see what the heck was up. When I tried to drag and drop into the template it made whatever I was dragging into a frame layer instead of a regular layer. If I clicked on my photo in the bin and then did select all and then copy and then Pasted it into the template it would let me do ctrl + g

there has got to be a simplier way!! but I did get that way to work!
