Animal eye glare

Is there a way to remove animal eye glare using the red eye tool in Elements 5.0? Or do I have to paint over the white glare?

I usually use the red eye tool. Then I go back with the selection brush with a soft edge to highlight the colored part of the eye. Press Cntrl+J to copy the selection. use the hue/saturation command to recolor the eye. Then you can adjust the opacity of the color layer until you are satisfied.

Sometimes using the burn tool will help- I have even had to use that on really bad people red eye. You want to switch the burn to the highlights mode and once it darkens then switch to midtones. Not always perfect but definately better.

Pet red eye

I got this from ScrapbookPictures.com:

Software fixes after you have the image in your computer:
PSE4 (not the earlier versions) AUTOMATICALLY takes care of red-eye when you open your picture.

I use the sponge tool set to de-saturate and run it over the red eyes. Try it with Opacity at 50.

The ‘new’ Photoshop CS 2 has a red eye tool
