brushes in PSE4 for Mac

Hi! I am looking for a way to organize my brushes. I have so many now and the names for the brushes most often don't give me a clue on what the brush really looks like. Any ideas anyone? I think I would like to just have the default brushes that came with PSE loaded and then if there is a way to go to my external drive to get the brush I might want and use it without loading it.... is that possible? Any way to preview the brush without loading it or opening it? I hope I have made myself clear! If not, just ask.... Judy

As far as I know there isnt yet a brush viewer availabel that works on the mac platform.
Apparently however ACDsee is coming out with a MAC version of its program soon and you will be to view brushes with it.
Most brushes have a preview image when you download them - I alwasy grab that and use that to help figure out what brush is which.
YOu dont have to store your brushes in the Preset folder - you can also store them anywhere on your HD and load them from that location

brushes....

I wish I had thought to keep an image of the brushes that I have! Smart, real smart. Quite awhile ago I wrote to ACDee and asked about a Mac version and was told that there wasn't any plans to launch such a thing but I am thrilled to hear that there is one in the works! That would be great.......... Hope it's true. So I guess for now, I am going to remove all my brushes from my Preset/Brushes folder and just load them when I want them. And when I have time, maybe search for a thumbnail for each..... Do you know if I can change the title of the brush without affecting how it works? Can I also make folders within the Brushes folder (that I will create on my external hard drive) with categories, i.e., frames, word art, etc.? Thanks for replying and giving me some hope for the future, Judy

Yes you can chnage titles - I often add the name of whoever made it to mine since they are often not included or named strangely lol
I have all brushes set up in My Documents - inside a folder called PhotoshopStuff lol I have folders for my brushes, actions, patterns, shapes etc

Since we are talking about brushes -though I have the same set up for the others -I then have subfolders like
Swirls/flourishes; Geometric Shapes; People; Flowers; Word art etc etc and sort my brushes into those

HTH

I have all my other digi stuff in iPhoto (with keywords) but not the brushes. Oh well. Just thought I'd ask for ideas. Thanks, Judy
