Does PSE bog down?

I'm attempting to decide which software to prucahse and use full time. The full version of Photoshop is way more than I can afford. I have the PSP 8 trial version and I'm downloading the PSE trial.

I really like the ease of PSP but it bogs down way too much for my liking. Does PSE bog down (slow down, stop responding, close completely) often?

(I'd really love to hear from anyone with experience in both)

How much memory do you have? All graphics programs are memory hogs and will bog down. Here are some tips....

Only start your program after a reboot or immediately upon start up....this will make sure it has all available memory.

Use CTRL-ALT-DEL to shut down everything but explorer and systray before starting your program. A lot of things run in the background that take up precious memory.

Try not to open any other programs while your working.

and most important SAVE SAVE SAVE SAVE SAVE often!

I have PSE and I haven't had any problems with being bogged down. My computer is about two years old and is pretty standard. I do make sure that my other programs are closed (most of the time) when I'm working and save as I go. The only times it starts to slow down is when I am using my paintbrush set at a very large size. My biggest problem is that the files I create are really large so I am burning them to cd's pretty often and then deleting them off my computer. Other than that, it works really well for me!

Thanks, I have 448 MB Ram and a Pentium 4- 2/4 GHZ

I have experience in working with Autocad which is another large drawn out program.

At this point, what I've experienced with PSP8 in 5X7 layouts is unacceptable. That's why I'm interested to see how this program will be. (If I ever get it downloaded)

Do you have PSP 8 or PSP 8.1? PSP 8 had some memory problems and they made a patch for it...then came out with PSP 8.1. Check their site!

I would ***ume that I downloaded the 8.1 version of PSP since I just downloaded the trial version from the site.

I purchased PSE yesterday as I tried five times to download the trial. So far I haven't had any problems (while it slows down for some things it's nothing like with PSP). I did do some work with 12X12 layouts but the true test will be this afternoon. And really PSE seems as easy if not easier than PSP.
