TIP: Import Embellies Directly to LOs

I shared this tip on my blog and a few other places and everyone has been super excited about it!!

I have seriously wondered if you could do this in Photoshop (or Elements) EVER SINCE I started digi scrapping -- open a paper or embellishment directly onto a layout...instead of opening it and then dragging it on to your LO (and having to go back and close all those things you opened and dragged)

Well, guess what - YOU CAN. Please don't laugh at me if you already knew this -- I have been doing it the same way I've always done it - the way I learned from the first digi tutorial I read almost exactly 2 years ago (file ->open, drag to layout) Try this: file -> place.

It plunks the paper or embelly right in the middle of your LO and automatically has transform controls available ...AND it names the layer with the name of the thing you just imported. HOW COOL IS THAT for remembering credits?? At least it sort of explains why I've never been able to find a tutorial or trick for this - Adobe doesn't call it importing - they call it "placing".

This will work in Elements 5.0 and 4.0 but not 3.0 or earlier~

That is really cool! I bet we start seeing this tip used in a lot of tutorials from now on!! How neat that it even creates a new layer everytime you place the item!

LOL...that's great. I was just sitting here the other day grumbling about the inefficiency of bringing elements into a LO. I assume that this will work with pics as well?

oh how cool is that...I had someone over showing them how to do a layout the other day, and she asked me do you just use place? I said no and just did it my old way... I'll have to call her!
