Clipping Layers

I am trying to create a clipping layer with a picture and frame. I have my photo in the layer above the frame. When I "Ctrl-G", its clips the picture to the shape of the frame, but I can't see the picture - I still have white space like the picture is behind the frame. What am I doing wrong?

If you're using a frame, would it be easier if you just put the photo behind the frame?
Is your frame "hollow" inside? I mean there's space to put the photo in. I may be misunderstanding your use of the word "frame" but if it's the frame as I know it, then when you clip your photo to it, you're clipping it to the frame itself and not the space for the photo?
Did I make sense? Hope I helped, even a little! I know how frustrating it can be!

If the photo square and frame are 2 separate layers, make sure you're putting your photo above the photo square layer, not the frame one. This way, when you do the clipping mask, it'll clip to the photo area and will be on top of the frame.

The middle of frames should be a transparent area.

Place the photo on the layer under the frame and it will be visible throught the transparent area of the frame.

If you want to move the two together, lock the layers.
