Creating a border

Hi everyone, I desperatly need your help. I have been about two days searching the internet and I can't find anything helpful. I am trying to create a border for an invitation I have in mind. I looking for a grungy/sloppy/funky border (these are all the names I have come accross). I know how to make a border using the stroke or the resize canvas size tools but these give me smooth looking borders around my picture which is not what I want. I need to create a border and then insert a picture into it and I also need to be able to change the color of the border and the color inside.
TIA,
Yanelis

You can use a grungy brush to create the border - make it whatever color you want. There are plenty of free brushes capapble of doing this or check the preset ones that came with PSE.
You could also purchase any of the great borders in the store and then just fill them with the color you want.

Shelly thank you for answering me but I have a very dumb question how can I use a brush to make the border. I am planning to have like a color background and then adding a picture or a clipart to that and have a border all around this. How can I use a brush to make this. I want it to look the same for all the frames I need (3).
Thanks,
Yanelis

Hi
I don't use PSE - I use PSCS2 but the general idea should be similar. PSE comes with preset frames - PSE5 with a ton so check for frames in your program first. Heres some info I found on Frames http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com...hlight=borders
I couldnt find anything specifically for PSe

Im going to ask a PSE user I know to give you an outline - hopefully she can reply soon.

Use a brush stroke set like Dani B's to create the border.
I would do this using the png files, and merge them into a single layer.

bottom layer is photo
next layer above is brush stokes
layer above that can be solid color or patterned paper for brush strokes. Select that layer, and go ctrl+G for the color to show up just where the strokes are.

I am not sure if this is what you are looking for, and if not, can you post something that looks similar to what you want so we can help you a bit better?

Hi, here I have posted an example of the kind of border I am talking about (its the green part, it looks very sloppy here because of the pixalization). I think it looks a little pixelized because it was something from the web.
Shelly I saw the frames that come with PSE and I liked one of them but they are very thin, do you know if you can add more thickness to them.
thanks,
Yanelis

Hmm I don't know if you can make them thicker - not having used PSE.
I think probbaly your best best is using a brush since you heave more flexibility with that.
I just wrote a series on this for the tutorials area but since its still not fixed yet here are the direct links to download the tutorial.
I think Part 1 will be the most help for you.

You can try using the "chalk" brush that comes with PSE, and increase the size to the thickness you want, and the same brush as an eraser to remove any spots you don't want. The chalk brush has an uneven edge which is why I liked it for making items like this in PSE.

I still think Dani B's brushed frames kit would work for you for something that is quick and easy. Specifically the frames kit from her Digital Grafitti CD, and the bonus frames from her Little Sprout Combo pack. These are the ones that I grab when I want that kind of look.
