What have I done??!!

Hi ladies,
I've been using photosuite for years but decided to bite the bullet and buy PSE4.
I am totally lost.
I did a very simple layout yesterday using Stacey's tut, but I still don't know how to resize it.
Today, I was trying to creat a layout using a background paper from a kit instead of making my own background.
However, I can't seem to figure out how to get everything on one page. I have some backgrounds, elements and a photo. When I try to drag anything onto the background, that's all I see in the window. Help!!
Hugs!!

Im still fairly new at this, but i know what your talking about. You need to make sure that you are not working at full screen, make sure (its in the right hand corner) that your tiling your windows. you can minimize the pages that your not using, and only keep your layout page up, then go to your pallet window and just click on the element/paper that you want, once that comes up, hold mouse down on element/page and move them over to your LO page.

I did the beginners tutorial a few times to get the basics of how the page structure worked in PSE 4 It helped alot.

I hope i didn't confuse you..

Lynda... I wish we were going to the city earlier and then I would come and teach you all of the tricks to the program. As it stands now, our next appt with specialists is at the end of March.

For resizing, make sure you save the full-sized image first. Then you need to resize it to 7"x7" and 72dpi (all 3 boxes to have 'x' in them). After that, got to "file", "save for web". Adjust the slider for quality level to keep the file under 125kb. Hit "ok", then name your web photo. When you go back to the main file, "undo" the resizing to get your large page back.

For moving items onto your page, I cheat. I open the item I want to use, right-click on the layer in the layer palette, select "duplicate layer" and then use the drop-down to tell it to duplicate into the file where I am creating my layout. Then I can close that file. Drag-and-drop also works, but for some reason I prefer the duplicate layer method better.

Just shout if you need more help, and congrats on your purchase.

Thank You!!

Thanks so much gals. Arti, what a sweetie you are.
I phoned the customer support service for the program yestersay and the service rep helped me to uninstall and reinstall the program. This time it settled in much better and I got the help files I need so I know where to start....sheesh!! I had been thinking it was unbelievable...what they weren't telling me. Anyway, I hope I'm off and running now. Thanks again, so much.
Hugs!!
