displaying two layouts???

Hi! I am trying to get familiar with the program. I am not at all new to scrapbooking but I am new to digital. I have been working with the trail version of PSE4 for several days and I just purchased a laptop and a PSE4 so that I can now totally go DIGITAL! Therefore, I know that many, many more questions will follow, but this is my first question. Can you display 2 12x12 layouts together so that you can work on a 2 page spread at the same time? I tipically scrap 2 page layouts and I would really like to view both at the same time. Thanks for any help you can offer! I would also like to know on a side note...are all the "freebies" created from software such as PSE or are they created in much more intensive software? I am absolutely stunned by how great they are!

Hello!
Congrats on going digital! You will love it. There are lots of new things to learn all the time, so you will always have questions. Everyone here is very helpful, and always willing to help out.
As for doing two layouts at once: I do this: I open a New document at 12x12, and then ANOTHER New document at 12x12. I just line them up next to each other on my workarea in PS. I hope this helps you a bit.

You can also make one layout that is 12x24, and then once you are happy with the final result, split it into two 12x12 pages. I like to add an extra layer with a pencil line down the 12 inch mark so I can balance the layouts, and the layer can be hidden or deleted when you are done.

And welcome to the world of digital scrapbooking!

Ooooh arti that's a great idea! I started out doing two separate LOs but then lining things up got tricky sometimes between the two, so then I switched to the 12x24 LO size when doing a two page spread. But the balance thing is kinda hard this way without a line! So I'll add that to my set up and I'm sure that will help a bunch.

Glad you got a laptop and are taking the plunge to digital! You won't regret it! And PSE4 now apparently has text boxes and shows the fonts now as they look so that is REALLY cool. I guess adobe may listen to us after all! That was one of my wishes for PSE 3! Feel free to ask questions! And don't forget to search the PSE forum for hints and tricks using key words 'cause most of us have wondered the same thing! And since PSE4 is new probably most of the info is still under PSE 3, but it should still apply! Hope that helps!

Hello,
All the elements are created in and from many different programs. I am sure some of them were created in PSE4 but the majority I believe are probably created in the larger more intensive programs like PSP, PSCS, DIP and such.
Have fun!

Gosh... I totally missed the freebies question (sorry). Tracey is correct, that many of the items are made using the more intese programs, but some can also be made in PSE4. All you need to do is sit down and play with the program, and you might be amazed at what you can create. Have fun with it!

Gosh! You guys are great! Thanks for the quick answers! Can you explain how to split the 12x24 into 2 12x12s? Both suggestions have helped me a lot. I am so impressed with the array of knowledge at this site!

Sure, once you are done...
then select the crop tool, set it to 12in by 12in by 300dpi and then start in the corner and crop out half. Save as a jpeg (not save!) and then undo and do the other side. Just be sure to get the very corner so you don't miss any.
