Here is a tutorial that shows the "F" thing and slider were are talking about. It is about half the way down the page. I am using PSE4 now, but just switched from PSE3 in the past month. Just keep posting if you need some more help with this.

Thanks very much for this. I"ve found the slider. No one had told me that there was that little dot on the Layer Palate. When I followed your instruction, I found the slider and could vary the angle but I am still unable to make the space between the edge of the actual picture and the sahdow any greater, though I had "achieved" this by accident before. Can you be ptaient a stage further and let me know how to make that shadowed space beyond the picture, wider.

You played with the slider and changed the distance to something bigger than 21 and it didn't give you the wider look you were looking for? Did you try the duplicate layer and then add a drop shadow to both? You say you came across it by accident before...could you post a pic of what you came up with so I can get a better idea?

Here is one where I used the hard edge drop shadow at a distance of 100 and then the second is the low shadow at a distance of 100. Just to see if that is what you are looking for or is it another look. I usually go for the lower numbers because I try to make mine look like paper LOs so I may not be able to visualize what you want if I can't see it. (I'm a visual learner). And if it isn't what you are looking for and can't find a pic of what you want, please keep trying to describe it to us! We'll get there!

Thanks for all your patient help. I have again stumbled on a way to do what I want,. which seems to be repeatable. I set up soft edge first then drop shadow double click and get the nice broad graduated shadow I want.
m a bit of a newbie to this posting business so haven't been too prompt. in replying. NIce to think that someone on the other side of the world can help and is so willing to do so. I'm downunder here in Australia where we are all upside down! Doesn't help when you're using PSE3.

Seriously though, thanks
