Edges

I've been working with PSE as I have the time and seem to be making some progress. There's lots to learn and I'm discovering new things all the time. I already love it! Thanks for the help.

Almost ready to post a couple of layouts as soon as I can figure out how to do it.

My question now is how to change the edges in photos. I think this has to do with masks but haven't figured it out yet. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Carole

well, exactly what do you want to change and what do you want to change them to?? there are great filters for torn edges, burnt edges, etc or you can do most right in pse. delete them with a feather (at the top, change the pixels from 0) to fade them, etc. just give us an idea and we'll try to help. Sorry, I guess I didn't give you enough information. I'm interested in soft faded edges or burnt edges. I've done torn edges on a shape by using the l***o and drawing around the object. I suppose it would be the same with a photo. But how do you make it look burned or do a soft fade?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
Carole

there are filters (search for xenofex) that will do burnt edges (and tons more awesome stuff - and they have free trials). but you can also use the dodge and burn tools to darken or lighten. and you can just erase by doing the l***o then setting the feather to 10 pixels or 100 pixels or whatever you need to fade the edges. you may have to hit delete a few times to erase the edge line. you could use the eraser tool on soft edge or the airbrush to darken lightly. any of that make sense?? hth.
