PSE 2 is driving me nuts!

I have my plug-ins in a folder called plug-ins so I can use them with all my graphic programs. I just can't seem to get PSE2 to find these plug-ins in that folder. Do I have to put them in the PSE2 plug-in folder?
Also is there a way to add brushes, custom shapes, and styles without putting them in the designated folder. I would like to keep these separate as I have so little disc space and it already takes forever for PSE2 to open. I store my extra brushes and stuff for PSP and DIP in folders called My PSP and My DIP. I can load the brushes from there which is fine but I can't figure out how to load the custom shapes and styles I have downloaded.
Thanks for any help.

Vivian, for you I HAD to go find an answer. To get PSE2 to look for plug-ins in a different directory go to Edit> Preferences> Plug-ins and Scratch Disk. Check the box next to Additional Plug-ins Directory and then click Choose. Find the directory and then click Okay

You can load brushes, gradients, swatches and patterns "on-the-fly". The directions for loading brushes "on-the-fly" are in this tut. You can do basically the same thing for gradients, swatches and patterns.

As far as I know custom shapes and styles have to be in the default directory. If someone knows different, please correct me!

HTH! Holler if you need any more PSE help.
