Pictures & PSE3

Hello:
I have tons of digital photos on my hard drive and they are also saved to CD. When I upgraded from PSE2 to PSE3, I uploaded all of my photos from my hard drive to the organizer. (not knowing I could have saved them "offline" from the CD's.) Now I would love to get rid of the photos on my hard drive (I need more space for LO's) but what happens to my pictures that are in PSE3? I would love to have them "offline" but how do I do it now since all my photos are all ready there? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.
~Michele

Not sure if this is right, but when I have moved photos from one file to another, they kind of get a fuzzy look to them since they are no longer where the organizer thinks they are. It then goes through a search process to find the new file. As for taking them off completely, I don't know what would happen. Good question.

So if I'm understanding correctly you have already a CD with a bunch of your photos on it AND there are copies of those photos on your hard drive too. I would try something along the lines of what Jamie suggested. I'd temporarily put the files on your hard drive into a new folder. Make sure the CD for these pictures is in your computer. Now in Organizer select the photos that you want it to find on the CD. Then click File> Reconnect> Missing File... . When Organizer starts searching for the new location of the file click Browse then you can tell it where to look on the CD and click Reconnect.

I'd try this with just a few photos to begin with and see if it works. I haven't tried this myself, so I'm not sure if Organizer will totally grasp that the photos are now "offline" but it's worth a shot.

HTH! Holler if I totally took you down the wrong path.
