Viewing Thumbnails of Files on CD

Is there a way to view the thumbnails of files you have on CD in PSE 3 Organizer without having to put the items on your hard drive? I want to be able to burn all my scrapping stuff to CD so it's not clogging up my computer but I want to be able to see what I have. I know Picasa can do this, but I don't want another program and have to retag everything. Any help would be great. Thanks!

ok.. hope this works... when you are looking at the files on your cd in windows explorer.. there should be a dropdown box that lets you view as thumbnails... or just go to the top of the screen.. select view... thumbnails...
I'll try to atach a screen print of the box I was talking about..

Are you using a mac? It seems to me that you were asking some mac questions a couple of days ago. In that case, yes, just browse within the PSE browser to the CD drive. You may have to refresh the browse window, you can do this by clicking on the little arrow at the top to close the folders, then again to open them. If you're not using a mac, disregard this, although I'm sure you can do something similar on a PC.

I guess I should clarify. I want to be able to see thumbnails of files I have on my CD's without the CD's having to be in the drive. That way I can look through the Organizer and see what I have, then put in the CD when I want to use the file. Make sense? Thanks!

So when you import the images from the CD make sure to check the Keep Original Photos Offline box and the Organizer will just copy a small proxy/thumbnail image to your hard drive. If you've already imported the files I think there's a way to tell the set this setting after the fact too, but I'd have to hunt around for how to do that.

HTH!

That was a good question because my kits are ever growing and I am making my own elements too. A suggestion made to me on this site was to put your CDs in a CD holder, but the kind that has a plastic slip and you can put an image of what's on that CD or just label it. That's just my tip!

You should use a 3rd party program for this. I use a program called thumbsplus... but there are a number of freeware programs to do this. Check out picasa by google. You should be able to put the CD in the drive, open picase, choose the drive and it will generate thumbnails of all your photos on the CD. Of course, if you want to take it a step further, you would build a database of those thumbnails and then assign keywords and rank them.. then you wouldn't need to put the CD in any longer.. just open the program and view the database.
