PSE Organizer - Help Please

I use PSE3. When it was new, I transferred all of the SB Elements that I had previously cataloged on my PhotoShop Album program to PSE3. That worked great. I could see them and all their categories.
Life slipped in the way, and I haven't downloaded elements for many months.

Recently I read that you could have different catalogs set up in the PSE3 Organizer. Since I hadn't done much with cataloging my photos, I went to NEW ... and set up a new catalog for my 2005 photos. Again, it worked great and I could see all the tags for the photos. I didn't pay attention to whether the elements were there or not.

Today I went in to find a certain element ... and the only catalog I can find is my photo one. Is there any hope?? I can't figure out how to find my cataloged SB Elements. I'm afraid that they are gone forever to cyberland! If that is the case, I can accept that and move on. But I need to know what I can do to prevent their loss again if I re-catalog them.

Any suggestions would be appreciated ...
Pat

Did you look in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Catalogs for other catalog files? You could also try to search your drives for PSA files and see if there's a copy hidden away somewhere.

Do you remember if you gave your photo catalog a unique name? Or did you possibly just select "My Catalog.psa" and overwrite the old catalog?

I hope you find your catalog for elements!

try searching your harddrives for "*.psa" That will find all psa files, regardless of their name or where they got saved to. Maybe it will turn up!

I use two different catalogs

And this is how I do it. It's a little kooky how you have to do it -- You can't toggle between them, and can only have one open at a time, and it isn't intuitive. The first time I tried to make a new catalog, it took me forever before I realized there was no "New catalog" button.

Instead, try going to File > Catalog... There will be a dialog box that pulls up, and then try Open. Is your older catalog there?

I hope that helps.

A big thanks to all of you. I found my elements file .... whew! I immediately moved it to the correct folder and renamed it so that I could easily recognize it in the future. I really dreaded the thought of doing it all over again!
